Sam Memmolo
Star of "Two Guy's Garage"

Sam wrote and co-hosted the incredibly successful TV show "Shadetree Mechanic" on TNN. Shadetree Mechanic had a terrific run of 190 episodes spread over 8 years. Later, Sam wrote and co-hosted "Crank & Chrome" also seen on TNN. Sam Memmolo, along with his pal Dave Bowman, set the benchmark for automotive TV programming. Crank and Chrome has enjoyed 52 episodes. Currently Sam is the Executive Producer and Host of Two Guys Garage on SPEED.

"Shadetree Mechanic" had a cult-like following and enjoyed very strong ratings. TNN's viewership included 80 million households in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, in addition to Canada and Australia. With the 8 year run of "Shadetree Mechanic", 2 years of "Crank and Chrome" and 6 years at Two Guys Garage, Sam's 16 year TV presence has positioned him as a nationally recognized automotive expert. Sam's popularity and respect comes from all segments including performance, hot rod, street rod, and restoration enthusiasts. All this is an added plus to the scores of "traditional" consumers who tune in Sam's Garage Radio each week.

Sam's audience includes a wide spectrum of consumers, ranging from folks who may not want to lift the hood, to serious do-it-yourselfers, professional technicians, shop owners, and business professionals coast to coast. Sam's advice is respected, allowing him tremendous impact with his audience. This loyal following is no accident. It's the result of years of consistently good programming, straight talk, and solid honest advice.

Sam's credentials include ASE Master Auto Technician certification with Advanced Driveability rating. With over 40 years of hands on experience, Sam has owned and operated two very successful automotive service centers and he has a diverse sales and marketing background. Sam was a Regional Service Manager for SAAB-SCANIA of Sweden. He later joined ALLEN TEST PRODUCTS as a technical instructor. His almost 10 years with ALLEN took Sam nationwide, as the Division Training Manager. He keeps technically current and continues to conduct training classes, seminars, and consults with several businesses. He also writes for industry and enthusiast publications.

On a personal note, Sam and his wife Diana live in North Georgia. Their 6 acres of hardwoods are home to their Hot Rods. Additionally, both are active in animal rescue and adoption in their home county. Diana has a 1939 Chevy Master 85 4 door and her dog-mobile 1966 Ford Falcon Stationwagon. Sam has a 1954 Chevy Pick Up. Sam's personal driver has been his 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually with 6.6 DuraMax Turbo Diesel. Diana is seen around town in her 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with their dogs Bowtie, Turbo, Hot Rod and PickUp.

For all of this and more, the Gunnison Car Club is proud to honor Sam Memmolo with the 2008 Lee Iacocca Award.
